Pool float

We’re going on holiday next month when LO will be 18 months old. What’s best for use in the pool, arm bands, a swim jacket or something else? We used a rubber ring float thing when he was younger but it seems a faff to put that on and off if he wants to get in and out and walk around or go down the little slide. Any tips?

My daughter has just started wearing arm bands when swimming and they are great! It gave her more independence in the pool rather than me having to hold her all the time
