Im not getting uc at the moment as im getting maternity allowance, my first baby is due 14th of August and im going to move out and private rent for the first time next week.
Does anyone know what help i can get from uc? I have a uc account ect but they said I can’t get anything at the moment because of the maternity allowance but the maternity allowance won’t cover all the bills.
I’ve done the entitlement calculators but not 100% sure if there are right or not

Once baby is here, you add their details and provide proof. Same with housing costs

so once I move I just change circumstance and the housing cost? I’ve been told I’m not getting uc cus of my maternity allowance but instead of the standard part will I get the housing and council tax? Xx

Yes, everyone gets the standard element. Once you've got your child and housing on there too you should be entitled to something.
It'll be massively reduced due to the mat allowance though as that's deducted £ for £

You have to apply to the council for help with council tax, it's separate to UC

I was getting £311 a month but that stop when maternity started, I’ve done the entitlement thing and they’ve worked out that I’ll get £852 for uc which I’m guessing I’ve the housing part, £158 for council tax support and then £110 for child benefits. Does that sound right? Once my maternity allowance stops it says the uc will go up to £1649 which I’m assuming is housing and standard xxx

So you’ll get..
£311.68 - Single Person Element
£423.84 - Housing (Shared Acc Rate LHA)
= £735.52
Then your Maternity Allowance is deducted £1 for £1.
Once baby is born, you’ll get..
£311.68 - Single Person Element
£872.60 - Housing (2bed LHA)
£287.92 - Child Element
= £1472.50
Then your Maternity Allowance is deducted £1 for £1 still.
Do note, the housing is rough and I’ve based that on local to where you live from your profile.
You’ll then need to apply for Council Tax reduction - directly to your council.
Plus Child Benefit once baby is born.

okay thank you, I’ve never had to do any of this stuff before so I’m a bit confused on what I get ect xxx
