Tattoos and breastfeeding

So I have been contemplating on getting my sleeve done and I breastfeed my 3 month old but I hear different opinions about it. Any advice?

You don't get tattoos while pregnant of breastfeeding simple. If you find an artist who will do it, don't use them. The increased risk of infection isn't worth it

Not while pregnant kuz u need white blood cells for ur baby but they would go to the tattoo instead. While breastfeeding should b fine tho. This comment is the first I've heard against it. It's your body your choice. However I also only have 1 tattoo so I may not b the best person to give advice

Just wait till baby isn’t being breastfed as you cannot have tattoos done while pregnant or breastfeeding.

I got my first pp tattoo at 2 months ish postpartum. I’m exclusively breastfeeding. There is only risk of infection, but I have over 20 large tattoos, done at the same shop, and have never had an infection so I got a tattoo. I didn’t see it as that big of a deal because infections are rare, at clean quality shops. If you go to a cheap dirty looking shop you’d more than likely get an infection and it could potentially harm breast milk.

@Karis that’s fair enough but I’d just be careful, if it was a big tattoo the ink molecules could end up going from the blood stream into the breast milk which could be passed onto baby. It is rare but can happen. I only know because my brother is a tattoo artist and he strictly doesn’t tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding mothers because of it just in case. If it’s a clean place there shouldn’t be a big risk of it though x

i don’t think it’s a problem, as long as you go to a clean and reputable place

i would 100% wait until i’m done breastfeeding. it’s not worth the risks.

Sleeved are not cool anymore

@Galina I wasn’t tryna be cool I just wanted more tattoos
