Am I allowed to eat this? 12 weeks pregnant

I’m confused - can I eat this at 12 weeks pregnant? Or is it unsafe because it’s cooked chicken? really craving one and too lazy to make one myself haha

My OB told me to stay away from that kind of chicken 🥲

I did think that was probably the case! Might just eat the salad part and leave the chicken! Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with eating this! ‘That kind of chicken’ it’s cooked chicken fgs!!

it’s the way it’s cooked, can still contain listeria and especially with the outbreak going on right now i wouldn’t chance it. Unless you are taking it out of the package and recooking it.

I absolutely would eat that and in fact have eaten plenty of things with cooked chicken in. If it’s what you fancy, please don’t worry and just enjoy it!
The advice with meat is to avoid anything raw or undercooked, or cold cured meats like salami and chorizo so this cooked chicken will be absolutely fine x

Lmaooo I ate so many of that in my second trimester cause baby was craving a salad, didn’t think I wasn’t allowed to eat it. My baby is fine tho, happy little camper

This is completely safe to eat

i’m not 100% sure. I would just check packaging details on what you’re eating! But to each their own if that’s what you eat!

Cooked chicken is absolutely fine

In the UK- guidance says this is absolutely fine (different rules often for US.
I have been avoiding it where possible given recent issues of food poisoning linked to prepacked sandwiches. But the risk is just that- weighing up if you are likely to get food poisoning, nothing else there to avoid. Same with a lot of guidance around food.

In the UK this is fine to eat because we have different food standards. The same with deli meats and things like Subway, all fine to eat when pregnant in the UK.

If you're in the UK food safety is completely different to the US. There is no Listeria outbreak in the UK either. It's actually incredibly rare here. You're absolutely fine with that meal. There is no advice on the NHS that tells you not to eat cooked chicken. It's raw or undercooked or unpasteurised cheeses.
Don't take your food advice from another country where food standards and rules are completely different. Same with KFC, Can't eat in US, completely fine in the UK.

Definitely can eat that whilst pregnant. Was my go to lunch when I was pregnant.

It’s refrigerated, fully cooked chicken, it should be fine to eat, I lot of chicken stuff is normally recalled mainly in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. But it should be since it’s the the deli stuff so the things which are left out (example subways) where the ingredients are left out, are not recommended.

This is covered, refrigerated and chicken is fully cooked so it’s fine. However, a lot of chicken products such as salads and sandwiches were recalled in the UK and are still being recalled. I wouldn’t
risk the chicken, but do what makes you feel happy.

Actually a lot of chicken was recalled in the UK just recently a lot in Tesco’s (chicken sandwiches), Sainsbury’s Magnum Ice cream along with chicken sandwiches and also in Waitrose a lot of chicken products.

I shop in M&S where I have peace of mind also the tills tell you when something has been recalled so one doesn’t buy it.

It’s risky to eat chicken products from supermarkets which aren’t M&S.

Avatar

You're more likely to get e.coli from the salad that salmonella from chicken. I work in food safety

Avatar

You know m&s gets their sandwiches from same manufacturers as other supermarkets, right? There are only a few sandwich makers in the UK, m&s doesn't make their own.....

literally what I was thinking! 😅😅
