Experiences with BF & pumping!

Hi everyone! I’m 23 weeks pregnant and starting to think about breast feeding and pumping and I was hoping to hear thoughts from those that are experienced! My initial thought is that I wanted to breast feed and pump so that my partner can help with the night feeds. After speaking with my midwife, she has recommended first 2 months to do strictly breast to ensure you find a routine and determine supply which i get, she also warned about an over supply of milk if I pump alongside. I really like the idea of pumping alongside whether that be immediately or after a couple of months as it gives me a lot more flexibility so I’m intrigued to hear your experiences!

Your midwife gave good advice. I would also suggest only pumping for the sake of husband feeding baby when you need to go out for longer than a few hours without baby (and for when you go back to work). Giving pumped milk at night will prevent baby reaping the benefits that night milk has.
