Tummy sleeper

So my 8 week old, sleeps sooooo much longer when she’s on her tummy. I’ll make her nap on her tummy during the day and night time swaddle and back but the day naps are way longer stretches than the night. Her crib is right next to our bed, n she turns her head through out. She’s trying to turn over now but cnt fully do it yet. Can I make her sleep that way at nights or better to continue the back sleep while swaddled. So she’s fighting the swaddle a bit now. Fighting to get her hands free.

My baby is the same. Loves to contact nap and sleep on her tummy on me. She's fought the swaddle so hard and hated her hands being swaddled. We simply swaddle her with her arms out! Sleeps so well once we put her down at night. Took some time- we sit with her and get her to sleep first, then lay her down on her back. (Keeping a hand on her for a few seconds). It wasn't great at first, but better with the arms out and consistency is key! Keep at it. You got this.

Following, same here!

same my son sleeps longer / better on his stomach .. During the day he loves the contact , at night we can normally get him down without being there the whole time. He didn’t like the swaddle at all so we stopped as soon as we got home from the hospital. You can try to roll a blanket around her body to help her stay on one spot during the night times

The doctor told me once they show signs of trying to break out of the swaddle or roll that it’s time to stop swaddling. I stopped at 9 weeks & I noticed he slept better with onesies covering his feet not his hands, he moved a lot but sleeps 7-10hrs

My son is the same, sleeps 4-5 hours on his belly. He can fully turn his head , sometimes he pushes his had to the bed but only for a few seconds and than he turns it. I think next week I will start let him sleep on his tummy at night too. He is gassy and he is more comfortable like that.

I absolutely would not. Even when my son does tummy time yes he can turn his head great but sometimes he seems to just choose to rub or leave his face straight in the blanket. Their nose breathers and their nose is really malleable so if for any reason it gets smooshed they’re not just gonna open and breathe through the mouth. I got these swaddles off Amazon and they’ve helped a lot with longer stretches because he doesn’t get his arms out as much but if he does they’re still restricted from the startle reflex and also like rubbing and bapping himself in the face. But once you don’t want to keep his arms down you can just make it a hug around the chest and arms can go up or down. @Tyrika I don’t think rolling a blanket up in the crib is very good advice to give.

It is much safer for them to be sleeping on their back until they completely roll over from back to front and front to back. Tummy sleepers who can't do that yet are more to experience SIDS. I know that it's hard when they like sleeping in a certain position but it is for their safety that they stay on their back until they completely roll over.

@Cassie just ordered it. Thank u thank u

@Cassie ok and ?? that’s your opinion, I’ve seen multiple moms roll a thicker blanket kind of like a C around the babies body …
