How long is your babies wake window before bed?

My baby is 8 months this week and it’s been a journey since he was 5 months on and off sleeping through but just recently been struggling to get him to sleep.. used to self settled but that also stopped after he starting waking few times in the night. Usually awake 2.5/3hours before bed sometimes a little more - can anyone suggest anything if I’m doing wrong etc

Cca 4h...she's on two naps, her first ww is 2.5-3h, second 3-3.5h, 3rd 3.5-4h. Her first nap is 2h and second nap is 40-60mins

@Nina how do you get your baby to nap for that long? Mine is very unpredictable, sometimes 15 mins sometimes 2 hours 😂

How many naps is your little one on? Things fell into place for us when he dropped to 2 naps. First wake window is 2-2.5 hours and first nap is usually 1.5 hours. Wake for 2.5-3 hours. Second nap is usually 1.5 hours and then he’s awake 3.5-4 hours before bedtime.

@Emily ahh okay! Maybe that’s where things are going wrong as he has 3 ish naps so do you think I should drop to 2? Would he sleep longer each nap if he has 2 🙉

One of the first signs they’re ready to drop a nap is if you’re seeing more frequent night wakes so it really could be an idea! We were really led by our little one and he basically did it himself. We did work on extending his first or second nap with support and think this helped. He was constantly a 40 minute napper, so I would support him /cuddle him back to sleep. Then he just fell into longer naps. For a while we did a mix of 2/3 naps, if he had a short nap we would try to give him a catnap at 4.30, but always make sure he was up at 5pm so he could have 2.5 hours awake before bed.

2.5-3 hours. 3 naps of 30ish minutes. No night waking. Sometimes the morning nap can be 1 hour.

@Emily amazing thank you so much for your advice!

She just started doing it on her own. She was a 40mins napper for so long, then just started doing longer stretches. I do think you need enough sleep pressure though. Try extending, but if they seem super tired go gradually and do like 10-15 mins extension per day. Aim for 3h of day sleep max
