So I’m American and so is my daughter, but recently she’s started calling me “mum” instead of “mom”. I find it funny, but have absolutely no idea where she got it from. She’ll be 2 in October. Has anyone else’s toddler done this?

Is she watching Bluey? Peppa Pig?

she’s literally seen Bluey once, and hasn’t seen anything else that has British/Australian accents that I can think of.

If you like it, keep referring to yourself as mum! She will decide how she’s going to pronounce it, but for now it sounds cute

I completely agree that it sounds cute, and it makes me giggle. She’s obsessed with my parents dogs, so when I lay her down for her bedtime routine she’ll cup my face in her hands and go “mum, puppies?” 😹

she used to call me “ma” which was funny, or at one point she would call me by my name 🤦🏼♀️😹
