Am I going to ever be able to relax and have fun again or will I forever be in fight or flight survival mode? 😂 (5 months PP)

Haha I’m not sure you are asking the right group lol my son is two and I still feel like I’m just surviving daily… I also feel I’ve lost myself along the way. What did I used to find fun before? This is a big reason I’m on this app in the first place

I’m far from a seasoned mom, but our girl is 14 months and I find everything much easier now! Once she started sleeping a bit better and I reduced breastfeeding to only bedtime, I started to come back to myself. Who knows what’s still in store but I can confirm there are moments when I am more relaxed and having more fun. Fun is a bit different than before becoming a parent - eg I find it so fun when she is just being cheeky or when she sees an animal for the first time and is trying to say the word for it. I hope I’ll also get to do more things that I used to find fun before she came along but she’s great company!

My boy is 17m old and I promise you it gets so much better. It is still really really hard but I feel like I have bits of myself back. I think of it now as a new me in the sense that I will never be who I was. I will never be as carefree and relaxed as I’m responsible for someone else however he’s great with his grandparents who help out and his Dad. I felt like I was in fight or flight mode for like the first 6-8months to be honest. It is still so so new for you (still feels it for me as they change SO quickly) but if I’m completely honest I felt like things got better and better once he turned a year old. I just found the first year really tough! I still sleep in his naps now though to survive when I can 🤣 you’ve got this x

Tired adrenals after giving birth. Takes time to normalize.
Support yourself. Fruits berries. No coffee. Rest. Less stress.

My son is 3 years old and I’m definitely still struggling a little bit but my mantra is I can’t be the best for son if I don’t take care of my needs. I make it my business to make time for myself. Fight your mom guilt. You are a great mom who deserves a break from your baby.

I wouldn’t consider myself seasoned, but my oldest is 5 years old. But yes, it gets so much better! Hang in there ❤️
