I’m so sorry for the long post but please if you can stick with me, It’s currently 2am and we’re on night three of our little girl staying awake crying because of multiple back teeth coming in when she normally sleeps through the night. I searched up remedies that we could do on the spot and saw vanilla extract was one if you put a drop on a qtip and swab their gums, I tried it about 15 minutes ago and she is asleep now finally and the tears have stopped:’) I wanted to see if any other moms have used this and recommend it or if I should do something else?
I read a few articles saying the alcohol content in it aids in numbing and something in the vanilla aids with inflammation, and that the alcohol content is low to where it won’t hurt my daughter… I will admit even though it’s an old school remedy I’m still worried it’s not good even though I’m reading and so far have heard that its fine. Please share anything you can ! Tomorrow I will be trying the green onion trick lol

For context she is about a year and a half, our budget is tight I know there is one oil? Or something like that where you can apply it to the outside of their check and it helps instantly I just can’t remember what it’s called but I believe the ones I found were expensive I can’t fully remember I’m also running on about 2 braincells, 3 coffees and 2 hours of sleep 🥲 we’ve tried celery and that didn’t work for us but I think that’s it so far ? All her front teeth came in a breeze but these back ones and more than one at a time has her hurting ☹️

Anbesol liquid (not the gel) is what I find works best for teething. If not, Calpol. I wouldn't give my kids alcohol although I'm sure as a one off it's fine.
As a one off thing the alcohol is probably ok but I wouldn't trust it just because it's 'old school'. Plenty of old school things are actually harmful, like weaning at 3/4 months, cry it out, etc.

Ashton parson powder worked wonders for us

we have anbesol I feel so dumb for not using it now I just get worried with stuff we have for us I just ignore it in my mind because I assume it’s not meant for toddlers, like the kids vs infant medicines I get worried about but I will definitely try that instead of vanilla anymore!
That’s very very true I don’t like a lot of the old school methods so I think that was the reasoning I needed to hear 🥲 as a one off for sure only because we’ve already done it we just got desperate and read online it was a suggestion and thought she would survive the night type thing but now I’m feeling a lot of mom guilt 🥲
I think I’ve heard of calpol if that’s the one you can put outside their cheek and it works wonders? I want to get my hands on it as soon as we can!

I know you have anbesol so i definitely recommend that.
I have calgel (the calpol teething gel) and its for their gums inside but you can't use along side anbesol..
But nurofen is also brilliant for teething and if you'd rather go the natural way spring onions are good for them to chew on x

ahh sorry Calpol is a UK thing but it's just branded strawberry flavoured paracetemol really. I think Tylenol is similar!
