A tired and frustrated mum 😑

Baby is almost 5months and has been refusing to eat for the past few weeks now. She’s not ill or anything she just doesn’t want to eat, she can go five hours without crying for food, reported to gp and they said as long as she’s not ill or running temperature and having lots of wet nappies it’s nothing to worry and it might be teething. But she’s not gaining weight as she ought to because she’s not eating, I had to start force feeding her out of frustration cos I can’t just watch her go over 5hours without eating anything. But forcing her is also very stressful for me, I’m really tired and don’t know what else to do. She’s formula fed

Teething maybe? My boy has been really off his milk (also formula fed) - he drinks neocate.

We had a really good week drinking 850-940ml a day and then suddenly he wasn’t even getting 500! About 5 days later a tooth cut through. I can see another one on its way and he’s still drinking the same. We’ve struggled with weight gain since birth so this isn’t ideal for us.

Completely different scenario but my friends baby started not drinking because he wanted whatever she was having. She started giving him baby porridge and small amounts of puree at this age and he would drink a bottle right after?

How many oz does she drink when she does feed?

For reference my boy is 6 months in 18 days xx

Since she is 5months you can start feeding her some baby food ( banana porridge or rice porridge) it's safe for babies from 4months upwards and see if she like purée fruits ( banana, avocado ) the class of fruit that can be smooth when mashed . Try it ones a day she will eventually choose one of them. My LO is 4 months and 5 days she likes the banana porridge .

Hey mama! I was in the same boat as you! Worst my son wouldn’t take any bottle or food when he was about 5 months too. Just give baby girl some time. Keep introducing her to different solid food and see what she likes. My son didn’t start accepting solid until 7 months old. He’s now 9 months old and eats everything I give him. I know how frustrating it can be but we can’t really do much! Wish you the best 🤗🤗

I just wanted to say we had 6 long weeks like this, I ended up feeding to sleep quite a lot as he would often take more when he was drowsy. He was exactly the same, not asking for milk even if his tummy was rumbling and taking 1-3oz at a time. His weight wasn’t great over this time but he didn’t get poorly.
I don’t want to jinx it but he’s 5.5months now and just this week he’s decided to drink so much more milk and asking for it again! So hang in there!

I think I’d start introducing solids and see if she would take it. Maybe she’s tired of the formula
