If anyone does know any information regarding housing I would appreciate any knowledge shared as this is new for me.
I live in my baby dad’s home, it’s not mine and we’re not together. He wants me to leave but I have no where to go. I was given a number to call for housing but I haven’t contacted. I’m a bit scared and I don’t know what to do. I’ve only been here a few years and I haven’t been able to get a job due to lack of childcare, I’m scared they might try push me out of the area but I have made friends there and we go to classes and activities in the area and it’s all my toddler knows.
I know the waiting list is very long but if he’s kicking me out what happens? I really don’t want to end up somewhere rotten in the process of waiting or do I have to suck it up? I plan to look for employment as soon as I have a stable home and hoping they can help me arrange paying for child care to get a job in the first place.

If your name is on the mortgage or tenancy he can't kick you out as you have equal rights I believe.
What's the agreement and do you have UC and pay towards the house or anything?
Sadly regency accommodation can be problematic. But I'd at least call and ask the question so you know. You can try women's charities too like women's aid and refuge etc also as sometimes they have access to group homes etc that can be a lot more positive but not always.
You can claim UC to help towards costs as a single parent and with babes at this age I think you don't have to work but may need to attend certain meetings to work towards it but I think it doesn't start until 3ish but may have changed. UC can also then pay up to 85% of childcare costs if you are eligible for it xx
I’m not in the mortgage just stated as living there. However, it’s very toxic and lots of tension everyday.
I have UC yes and no I don’t pay anything towards the house as I’m not working and all of the bills are unaffordable for me.
We did discuss I don’t need to work until my child is 3 but I want to work I don’t want to be out of the workforce for 3 years, I’m desperate to do something and earn my own money but if I’m moving around and not sure where I live I can’t apply for anything. I’ve also looked at renting but even if I had a full time job nothing covers the amount of rent and then that doesn’t include nursery costs or any other bills that come with a home, I unfortunately can’t do it alone.

You can apply for your council housing list, you'll be priority in band A. It can take a while to get somewhere but if your being evicted you'll be put in temporary accommodation

You’ll get put in immediate accommodation it won’t be amazing but by law as you have e a little one you can’t be homeless , then you’ll be on waiting list for council place x

You'll likely be placed in B&B or temporary accommodation which isn't often very temporary - more like months/years. They may even try and find you an affordable private rent but each local authority is different so it will depend on where you live. How long have you been in the area? As councils will also have criteria for their council lists e.g. have to have lived in the area for 2 years

Not exactly the same but our landlord gave us a section 21, we were told to call our councils homelessness prevention centre.
We got a form we had to fill out and had to give them 3 months bank statements, any documents on UC and benefits we receive. We had to to to deliver all the paperwork and we should get a call tomorrow from our housing officer. If you have any questions feel free to message me
oh god that doesn’t sound great at all. I just need somewhere stable so I can get back to work, it’s not possible right now. Can you do private rent unemployed? How would you pay for that?
I’ve been there 2 years, moved whilst I was pregnant
is that so they know how much income you have? All I have is basic UC and child benefit so it’s not much. All rent I’ve been looking at in the area are £1800+ I don’t even have half of that and I know even if I worked full time I couldn’t pay for that, nursery, food, clothes and days out on my own.
Did you have to go in and collect the form and then fill it out and bring it back in person?

I am a full time carer for our autistic son, so I don't work my husband works full time we only get around £800 UC our current rent is £800 so it pays just for our rent, we in a 1 bed flat, they emailed me the form and printed it out and filled it in you can also do it online. When I called after getting the section 21 they gave me a appointment date o the call then sent the paperwork via email.
mine is £599 so a bit less and I was looking at a 2 bed so maybe why it’s £1800-£2000. Okay I see so it’s mostly all online / over the phone rather than having lots of appointments in person. Thank you

The reason ours is a bit more is because of our disabled son as we get the disability element and carers element.
If you look at private rental properties you will find some cheaper properties.
I see! That makes sense and I checked on right move. The cheapest I could find was £1400 😅😅 so expensive and I’ve looked close to where I currently live and by my mum also, both are just crazy amounts

That is crazy. Hopefully you can get help soon
