Can anyone recommend some easy mess free snacks to give to my baby. She is 6 months old (almost 7) and happy with BLW, we are going on holiday so I want some easy foods she can try abroad sitting in her pushchair or out on a picnic or to just hand her to have at a restaurant in a high chair.
As we aren’t home I won’t be able to actually cook the food so things that are readily available in grocery stores would be great although I should be able to cut things up to a suitable size for her.
Usually I give her veggies/ fruit in finger size pieces steamed or like avocado toast, omelette strips etc.
So far I was thinking:
- Cucumbers
- Celery
- Toast with butter (if easily available)
- Maybe croissants
- Maybe fruit in the fruit dummies (although this does get quite messy)
- if we have pizza to give her some crusts
- cheese
We’re going for two weeks and i want to keep her consistent on meal times. She’s not a fan of purées or me feeding her so I will take some pouches but looking for other options that she can feed herself.

Learn more about our guidelines.for croissants do you just buy them from cafes or the ones that are packaged up? Just want to be careful for added sugar/preservatives. Also are crackers safe for 6 month old? She doesn’t have any teeth yet so don’t think she can bite into them

Crackers or crackerbread.
Sandwiches
Blueberries strawberries etc

Snacks I give my almost 8 month babygirl are bananas, strawberries, grapes cut into 4-6 pieces, steamed broccoli, steamed carrots, watermelon, peaches, English muffin/toast, avocados, Mac and cheese, tonight she tried spaghetti tonight and loved it, Gerber baby rusks (phasing out of those but were great to start), mashed potatoes, mangos.
