Formula milk advice

Quickest way is the hot shot method. Boil the kettle, put your formula powder in the bottle and cover with newly boiled water (just cover it and no more). Then you need a jug of already cooled boiled water and top up to the line with that. Give a good shake.

I had this problem in the beginning and asked people on here for help and got stupid replies like comfort her whilst you wait 🙄

The other thing is batch make the bottles (they last 24hours in the fridge once made up) and use a bottle warmer but even that takes what feels like forever when baby is crying.

You'll soon recognise babies cues when they're getting ready for another bottle, and you'll know to have it ready. Once it's made up, you've got two hours for them to take it.

Final option is buy a nuby rapid cool, it takes boiled water to drinkable temp in like 20 secs. You just mix formula and boiling water in it and push the button. I'm lazy and hate having to clean and sterilise this everytime so I prefer the hot shot method.

You have to boil the water. Formula powder isn’t sterile and can be contaminated with bacteria. My baby had to cry sometimes while I pumped or went to the bathroom etc. it is what it is unfortunately. If you don’t want to wait use ready to use formula

how long did you have to wait for the boiled water to cool down?

Yeah that's exactly what to do, let it cool and keep in a jug next to the kettle 😊

I did not use formula, but the instructions are on the can! You cannot use previously boiled water mama. The water needs to sterilize the formula. You are not boiling the water to sterilize the water.

Sorry but casey is wrong. I'm feeding with formula. As long as the first water to touch the formula is boiling then it's topped up with previously boiled water that's perfectly fine. Do whatever you want it's your baby but as I said I have been in this predicament myself.

Why not do some research yourself as well.

I wouldn't be relying on advice from someone who hasn't fed this way! Just as I wiuldnt offer advice on vreastfeeding

I’m not wrong - you just mimicked exactly what I said. She believes the boiling is to sterilize the water which is not true - it’s to sterilize the formula. As long as ANY boiling water touches the formula then it’s fine- exactly as you described. There’s no being wrong or right because we’re both saying the same thing. Reading the comment fully is essential before picking an argument with someone over nothing lol. I also don’t need to formula feed to understand that powder formula is not sterile and has a ton of recalls for cronobacter. It needs to be sterilized, period.
