3 year old vaccinations

Yes 2 in the arm. She didn't become poorly but was so, so upset afterwards. She didn't understand what's happening. I felt rotten 😭

We had ours on the 12th. One in each arm. We pre warned my son, got lots of ice lollies in and brought him a new toy that we kept in the car for afterwards. I was so shocked at how far the first needle went in🫣 it was awful. However afterwards, he literally had forgotten all about it in the car. An hour later his arms were a bit heavy and he didn’t want to use them. He was completely fine within himself. Just I noticed a temp of 37.8, so did give calpol on day 2, to make sure it didn’t effect him but as I said he was completely fine within himself. Made a post about this 3 months ago as I was so nervous and didn’t know how to prepare him, it was awful to see but couldn’t have gone any better, panicked over nothing! So proud of him, hope your 3 year old forgets about them as quickly as possible. Wishing you luck mumma😢💔

@Bron Aww bless him 😢 I'm really anxious as I know she will be super upset. She grazed her knee last week and still talks about how hurt she is so I know this will definitely be something she won't forget 😩 I'll definitely get her a little present and keep it in the car with some of her favourite snacks. I don't want to scare her by telling her about it beforehand as currently she loves going to the doctors and this will put her off

Poor baby 😕

Everyone told me to tell my son, and I thought it would be in his best interest if I didn’t let him know about it. However I ended up telling him and we watched the Bing episode with him having his vaccinations, he was telling me he was going to have medicine in his arms and was smiling about it🫣😣 I was thinking oh no. But deffo recommend telling them about it as you don’t want her going back to the doctors another time thinking she’s going to turn up and that’s going to happen again. You can try and explain that she won’t be having the medicine in her arms when she goes next. But also understand you not telling her as that was how I felt and thought it was best! Bless her. I wish you luck😢 my daughter is a year behind so we’ve got it again next August haha. I thought the year ones were bad as they were more knowledgeable, but these deffo top the others don’t they😭💔x

We had ours last week, I didn’t tell her until we sat in the chair, I then said we need some medicine to keep us strong. She didn’t mind the first she laughed it off but got upset at the second one. I had a bag of buttons and said she could have them for being brave and she never said anything about them after! Apart from wouldn’t let me take the plasters off🤣

@Bron Really unfair of them and us mums who have to watch them cry and go through this 😪 I will probably tell her but maybe on the day otherwise she'll just get worked up. She's starting nursery in that week too so I'm hoping she takes it well and doesn't get poorly. Thank you for your advice 🙂

@Kirsty Aww bless her, I do feel if both jabs were done at the same time, it would just be so much better. Hopefully some sweet treats will calm her down

Have you got a doctors set which includes a “needle”? My son already has one and knows the needle is medicine so when the time comes I plan to play with his doctors set more, specifically the needle! Whether that will work or not, I don’t know 😂
