Has anyone has baby sufferingore on aptamil pepti 1 and anything that helped? Baby suspected CMPA allergy (rash, mucus stools, blocked nose and unsettled) and moved on to aptamil pepti at 2 weeks. 5 days in and although rash and mucus have gone baby is more unsettled. Seems to have a lot of trapped wind and crying/ screaming most of the day. Using some carobel to thicken as thought thin nature might be causing silent reflux. She has also started gagging and choking when lay flat in cot at night

Pepti actually still has dairy in it! It’s just broken up to help baby digest it better, it might be that she needs a completely dairy free milk, it also takes up to 6 weeks for the dairy to completely leave a babies system x

Unfortunately the Mills are prone in the first few weeks to cause more wind for babies and 5 days isn't long enough to know if it's working or not
We are on neocate and when she had bad wind pain I the beginning we used dentinox in her bottles and it really helped
Just don't use infacol as that will aggravate reflux

It can take a good few weeks for symptoms to clear up. If baby isn't getting better, gets worse or if new symptoms show, then maybe it's not the right milk. Generally they will have you try 2 hydrolysed formulas as there are 2 different milk proteins and not all babies are allergic to both. If Pepti isn't working, then Nutramigen would be the other hydrolysed formula as one is whey-based and the other casein-based. If they go for an amino-acid formula next, then you'll likely get Neocate, which is completely dairy-free.
Other thing to consider as well is that baby might be reacting to the Carobel. My first son did. My second I suspect is as well but I don't know for sure yet. We've just done a 2-week Neocate trial as Pepti wasn't working (he was on it for 3 weeks). So, right now I need to give Neocate time to work as he is improving.
To help with the reflux as well, feed upright, keep baby upright for 20-30mins after feeding, elevate the head of the cot slightly if you can. It'll be more comfortable

Sounds like we are having very similar experiences! I’m 7 days into the Aptamil Pepti and finding the same thing with regard to the rash improving, but having a lot of trapped wind and baby is still persistently unsettled/crying. Baby is 4 weeks old tomorrow so I’m planning on trying some gripe water then to see if that helps. I’m going to stick with Aptamil until my next GP appointment (I’ll have been on Aptamil 5 weeks at that point)- if not much has improved by then, I might ask to move to an amino acid formula. This is my first experience of CMPA so it’s all new to me!

It took my son about 10 days to adapt to the pepti milk and for his symptoms to go completely. Xx

It might be colic - baby was doing really well on Pepti 1 (symptoms improved after 8 weeks!) and all of a sudden he had stomach aches, gas, arching back, crying out again - it’s because we changed his bottles from Dr Browns back to MAM which we were using in the beginning. We nearly changed him to a completely dairy free formula, which I’m happy we didn’t as he’d be less likely to grow out of the allergy.
I’d HIGHLY recommend using the Dr Browns bottles before you change his formula, but use the glass ones as the plastic leaks microplastics. You can buy them on Amazon x

just because a baby is on a dairy free formula doesn’t mean they’re less likely to grow out of the allergy, I was worried about this with my daughter and her allergy nurse said there is no scientific evidence to support this 😊 x

ahhh, we’ve had different advice! The allergist we see says he is less likely to grow out of it if we were to put him on Neocate! X

I think it just varies baby to baby, my daughter had quite a serious reaction and is now completely dairy free whereas a family member grew out of there allergy at 2 and I become allergic at 19! Honestly so confusing 😂 x

isn’t it!! Apparently all about environment and exposure but even that doesn’t make sense to me, idk how much earlier we could have introduced dairy 🤷♀️😂 x

don’t! The allergy nurse was like did she have hiccups in the womb because if she did that’s a sign she has a dairy allergy like I thought that was to help them develop the suckle motion 😂 x

poor thing if my baby had the allergy in the womb I feel sorry for him because I craved cheese on toast and ice cream and had them daily 🫣 x

that's so interesting they've said that to you as my son had constant hiccups and had a very severe allergy that he's managed to grow out of by 12 months and my daughter never had them in the womb and doesn't have the allergy at all

my daughter has a severe dairy allergy and had them literally all the time and even after she was born she would get them multiple times a day! X

maybe there is some truth to it as my son was the same once born he constantly hiccuped my daughter has had hiccups once from guzzling a bottle ""
