So I’m currently expecting baby no 2. I already have a son who I adore and we really wanted to give him a sibling so went through 3 rounds of IVF as I’m in my 40’s to get pregnant.
Luckily it worked the third time and we implanted our only 2 embryos (one male and one female) but unfortunately lost the female at 8 weeks.
Now most friends I have told I’m expecting (I wanted to wait until my 20week scan) have all come out with comments like ‘oh I bet you hope it’s a girl’ or ‘I have a feeling it’s a girl’ etc etc
They don’t know about the twins.
It really annoys me - yes of course I would’ve loved a girl but for me, having a healthy child at my age is a blessing and I don’t care whether it’s a boy or girl.
I feel like people will think I’m disappointed when I have my son, but it’s not like that. I’ve mentally prepared myself and just want a healthy baby.
How do I approach these comments?

Although it’s majorly insensitive due to what you’ve gone through, the comments are genuinely just normal I think and have no bad intentions behind them.
I would just say in a cheerful way ‘no we’re really not bothered, just a healthy baby is all we want’ - they’ll stop soon enough x

Yeah I agree with the comment above. It doesn't mean any harm although I agree they aren't necessary but I swear people just try to come up with something to talk about. I was almost 40 when I got pregnant and I didn't even want to know the gender like you said healthy is more important. I didn't know until he was born and my husband was the only one that did. I'd just say what you said and what I said to everyone too...doesn't matter what it is as long as it's healthy esp given my age.
