My son has been potty trained for a bit now but towards the beginning of the year he had a couple BMs after being constipated that were big and hard and hurt him so it scares him to use the toilet now. He’s scared they’re gonna hurt him. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Rewards, sticker chart, sitting on the toilet regularly, etc. idk what to do anymore. He’s constantly got dirty underwear. Anyone had this problem and what worked for you?

More fiber (pears plums, whole grains, veggies) and water. This will soften his poop and make it more comfortable for him. Most kid food is very low in fiber and can lead to constipation. Also lots of movement may help too. Because it’s related to fear/physical feelings, sticker chart will probably not work 🤔

He loves most fruits and veggies. And mostly drinks water. He poops fine now it was just those two that hurt him but now he just refuses to do it in the toilet, only in his underwear. I just don’t know what else to try.

Feed your kiddo more fiber for sure. I'd be afraid of the toilet if I was having a medical issue too that was painful

Dont give your kid dairy. Tbh just google what causes constipation. One of my kids kids (my step kiddo actually) has this issue and her mom gives her milk all week and gives her anal tears I hate it. Just google what to feed the kiddo and you'll find out what to do and it'll be okay.
