IVF on NHS

I don’t think so, but I also think it depends on the situation are you married and been together long time without successful pregnancy? My friend got IVF with NHS despite partner having kids from previous relationships. But they’ve been together 12 years

Each NHS trust is different and will have different criteria. Being in a same sex couple we were told by NHS in my partners city that we’d only receive fertility treatment if we had 5 failed rounds privately. NHS in my city (we lived 2 hours apart) told us we could have IVF as a same sex couple on the NHS but the waiting list is 5 years and 3 years after the initial 5 years before we started actual IVF treatment.

I’d talk to your GP or local NHS fertility clinic about there criteria.

Absolutely, but it depends on your area - We’re in Stockport. We’re going through it at the moment . I have 2 children and he has none but we’re in the queue and it’s NHS funded

My coworker had to pay for ivf as her husband of 10 years had a daughter to an ex girlfriend

@Remy yet my coworker who had been with her husband 13yrs married for 10 didn't get any, they had to pay privately.
15m after their IVF son was born she fell pregnant naturally!!

@Aphrodite it's shocking isn't it that 1 person gets penalised because their partner has a child to someone else.
We couldn't believe it when my coworker told us and to start the entire ivf consultation they had to pay 5k which our workplace and her husbands workplace raised for them.
The NHS postcode lottery needs to be stopped

I’d recommend speaking to your local maternity ward, they will have a good idea / chance as your initial tests once referred by your doctor will go through them anyways, for free . Good luck 🤞🏼

Have a read of this - it suggests that in West Sussex a couple may still be eligible for assisted conception if one person has a child from a previous relationship x
