A lot of my 1st trimester symptoms have randomly come back (bloating, constipation, and nausea) and I have been having this stomach dropping feeling throughout the day. I just wanted to make sure he was okay. His heart rate was really good and as I said the sonographer wasn’t worried at all - he said my baby was okay and the stomach dropping would be my baby kicking (cushioned by the placenta). Little One was sat on his bum at the scan so his head was nearer my ribs and his bum was where my placenta is, if that makes sense. I have another NHS scan in a few weeks to check growth/placenta anyway because my hormone levels (blood results) were slightly low at my 12 week scan. At my 20 week scan, the sonographer said my placenta and blood flow was good and everything was good, so maybe it was just this time? I have heard about this scanxiety. I think it’s probably best to wait until I get to the 23 week scan to see how little bobbin is actually doing?
Yeh scanxiety is very real! Measurements aren't the be all and end all, it's a look at everything to view the baby on the whole! My symptoms are coming and going, just hormones going up and down/changing. It's very normal! Just wait until the next scan unless you get any bleeding or severe painn
My midwife literally said the words ‘be really careful of getting private growth scans’ with such concerned look on her face! I think it’s because of it causing this exact reaction, where it’s not actually a big thing. I would trust your NHS scan more than your private one! And if your private sonography was chill I wouldn’t be worried!
Thank you @Lucy, I definitely think I will avoid having private scans in future for this very reason. ❤️
@Lucy just an update. I went for my growth scan today and baby is bang on averaging for everything. He’s doing so well I don’t have to have another scan until 32 weeks! I shall not be going for any more private scans. ❤️
Perfect! I’m so pleased for you 🥰🥰
Depending on how the baby was sat/angled it might have just been hard to get the measurements. Why another scan? It's highly unlikely there would be that big a change in the space of a week on baby size!
