Found flea bites on baby from grandmas house 🫣

Wwyd? I’ve known my parents house has a flea infestation and tried over the years to do flea sprays and wash all the bedding etc but I have a disability so it’s difficult to tackle on a regular basis.

I’m someone that gets bitten easily but my parents have never been bitten. I take precautions when visiting I only ever sit on wooden dining chairs and not the sofa/rug, and I take my son foam mats to sit on there. But last time we visited I noticed 2 flea bites on his ankles and then quite a few on his back I felt so bad. My mum was going to be my childcare option when going back to work but I refuse to let my son back there. Am i being too dramatic? The thing is my mum loves him but her house is cluttered to the point where some rooms cant be used they’re too full of my hoarder dads stuff, and to get rid of fleas requires clear spaces to clean daily. I don’t know how to deal with this sensitively… I feel heartbroken tbh.
My old childhood bedroom is flea-free as I used flea treatment there and keep the cats out and door closed. But my mum can’t keep my son up there all day if looking after him.

I don't think you're being too dramatic. I wouldn't take my LG to anyone's house at all if I knew they had fleas.

It's particularly hard because it's your parents (and even harder because you were hoping to rely on them for childcare!)

Is it an option for your mum to come to your place to babysit? Or take him out and about on days she has him and do naps in a cot in your childhood bedroom?

I would have a really frank and honest conversation with them about it. Try not to use blaming/shaming language but explain that you need to put LOs needs first.

I feel for you, this is a tough spot to be in. Unfortunately I do think you need to talk to them honestly about it. Make sure you let them know that you just want what is best for your little and being bitten every time he goes over isn’t safe for him.

I’ve brought a flea bomb before for my parents and hoovered their rug when I visited as well as encourage them to get the cat done although it was more a seasonal problem. Bit difficult with my mil as she had cancer so kept quiet about it when we visited.
