My LB has an ear infection and is on Amoxicillan for it. They said if he was allergic he'd get a rash but no rash just runny poos which the NHS website said is a side effect , anyone else's LO had it and when did it stop? When the antibiotics finished or when they were still taking them?
Also any tips for giving it would be greatly appreciated 🙌🏼 He hates any type of medicine it's a fight 3 times a day for that and calpol 😭💔

Getting diarrhoea with antibiotics is extremely common - both for adults and kids! It’ll stop a few days after he finishes the course and is nothing to worry about. Plenty of fluids as usual. Myself and my daughter were both on antibiotics a few times in her first year and each time we both got terrible diarrhoea.

They also cause thrush! My daughter got nappy thrush and oral thrush when she was on very strong antibiotics. Easily sorted with cream/drops if that happens though.

One of my boys was covered in a rash all over and was very itchy. It disappeared within 1-2 days after I stopped giving it to him.
I found spoon feeding Greek yoghurt with the antibiotics on a spoon worked well with one twin. A little of antibiotics covered with Greek yoghurt to hide the yellow colour haha

Yes I get a diarrhoea with those antibiotics so can’t have them now as pregnancy and birth made me super sensitive to them unfortunately and my boy had an upset stomach taking them too x

Mine got diarrhoea and just horrible poos when she took amoxicillin! Stopped a couple of days after she finished it!
Was so hard to get her to take it, ended up having to just force it via a syringe or bribe her with chocolate if she takes it haha xx

My LO was prescribed 10ml dosage, instead of 5ml and it resulted in diarrhoea so please check if the dosage is correct.

it says 5ml 3 times a day and the pharmacy said the same so that's what we've been doing x

Thanks everyone ! I'm bribing hin with chocolate and using a syringe, he's still not taking it well but needs must x

Super common, cos the antibiotic kills off the bad AND the good bacteria throughout the body, including their gut. Try giving them some live yoghurt or kefir to get some good bugs back in their tummy (after the course finishes). You can hide in a banana smoothie if they find it too sour!
