Campervan pages/apps?

We've just started a campervan conversion and can't wait to start exploring in it with our babe. Does anyone know of any facebook/instagram/reddit pages or apps which have advice on good places to park up, van life tips etc?

I'm mainly just interested in how you find out where you're allowed to park up overnight and where is good. Do you still have your van now?

We've just sold our campervan conversion as we only had 3 seat belts and pregnant with our 2nd but looking for our next van! Last year we took our 7mo on a 3 week tour of Europe and it was amazing. We've also done a lot of wild camping in the UK. We use Park4Night app a lot, but also Google Maps and street view just to see if a place to overnight is suitable. A lot of wild camping is just using common sense and not annoying the locals.

There's also a Facebook group called motorhome pub stopovers or similar where people share pubs that allow you to stay overnight as long as you have a meal/eat there which we found good for random nights away.

Feel free to message me about part time van life with a baby/toddler.

Oh fab thank you! We're getting 5 seats with seatbelts to hopefully future proof it in case anyone else comes along. I've downloaded that app - looks good - and I know about French Aires as we've done a few driving holidays in the car. We borrowed a friend's van earlier this year so got a bit of a handle on how it is with babe but any top tips appreciated!

Kirstie’s given some good tips. You’ll find it easy to work out what kind of parking spots you’re looking for once you head out a bit more. Be careful with Park4Night with your little one and new conversion. I know many who have used the sites and had damage/things stolen from the van, dodgy people turn up and knock on the doors because it’s such a popular app. Popular with doggers too, so sometimes you won’t notice the turn until it gets dark.
Brit Stops is a great book to buy and it’ll give you access to the app - they have all the motorhome stopovers in and people are so welcoming. Safe Drives is a great Facebook group for women and children only looking for park ups in more residential areas. Great if you’re wanting to go into cities and have a look round.

I’d give you another tip to look at British Waterways and the boat parking along the canals. Beautiful, spacious and most boat owners have vans too, great with little kids. Plus if you buy the bin and waterways keys…

… you can use the toilets, showers, bins, taps and empty your loo. Good place
to also buy gas and red diesel.

Please don’t share the waterways part too widely though as so many spots have been ruined by holiday goers which makes van life very hard for those needing regular park ups.

Like I said - I’ve got loads of tips, but I’d honestly say it depends on your conversion as to what you’d be most comfortable with.

I know rainy season is 1000 times better on a proper campsite and wild camping will always have to be more discreet, you can't put chairs, awning out and include outdoor space in a lot of places without accruing a lot of attention which a lot of the time isn't welcoming.

We have lived in our self built van for the past 2 years. Message me if you need any advise on build and the lifestyle. We always found park for night to be the best app for park ups

oh amazing! What are you planning to do when your baby is here? I've downloaded park for night - started to get restless to get moving but need to get the build finished!

park for night is great but please be really careful with it as you’ll come across some really dodgy places too. Search for sites is a lot better! (Although use their webpage not the app)

Ooh ok, thank you. I'll check both out. I think initially we might stick to campsites as we get into the swing of it!
