I'm a FTM due early Jan, and there's been a fair amount of people offering to give us equipment and clothes.
Intially I was considering creating a registry but all these lists are overwhelming and not good for my adhd brain (lol)
My partner and I were thinking, maybe we should just accept everything ppl offered us and filter through it, and see if were missing anything and buy/ask for it closer to due date.
I thought that might leave us with too much stuff but idk. Is it rude to cherry pick what people offer you?

I think that’s the great part of pregnancy and community. People are always willing to give as baby stuff is so short used. I am accepting offer for things but I have a strict list of things I need/want & very picky on the quality (don’t offer to gift me an item that is scruffy and you were going to throw away but now it more convenient to give away to someone).
My cherry picking check list:
- how long have they had it?
- how clean is it?
- does it have scuff marks (noticeably heavily used)
- do they pets/are they smokers ( I have a lot of allergies so this is just a personal one, I don’t want the faff of having to deep clean an item because of this)
- was it on my list (I’m not fussed about branding but I do have ones I like)
- colours! Are they ones I like/plan for baby stuff
All I can think of so far!

An example:
I was gifted a SnuzPos by a friend and it has a few scuffs marks, nothing noticeable. her little one didn’t take to it much and only used it a few months. I am going to replace the mattress & wash all of the linen/liners it came with.
It’s not a colour I was planning on having but it’s such good quality, was on my list of items to buy & fully assembled. I was so surprised and grateful she was gifting it as she was selling other baby items
Be picky & politely confident to say no certain things. Or else you will be cluttered and overwhelmed with more things than you needed or liked

thank you, that's certainly helpful
