Weaning

I’m getting so overwhelmed with all the information about weaning. Is there a specific time to do it? And is it important to do it the exact same time everyday? I tried to do it at 11 everyday but it’s just not working out because some days by the time 11 comes, he gets tired and wants to sleep and I have seen that you shouldn’t wean when they’re hungry or tired. I’m so confused 😂 some advice and tips pleaseee x

Have you been advised to wean this early for any particular reason? As it’s not recommended until 6 months and even at that point they need to be ready and it’s only a couple of spoonfuls a day initially. Maybe baby isn’t ready yet. I certainly wouldn’t be doing it if they’re sleepy though, particularly at this age

If you're getting overwhelmed, buy one single weaning book and follow that. Doesn't really matter which one, the main thing is you treat it like a bible and stop looking anywhere else for weaning. Joe wicks, Annabel karmel and holly willoughby are all good and any of those will get you weaned easily.

We're doing allergen weaning atm, and apart from just doing it in the AM so we can see reactions, there's not much to it tbh. It's *hard* getting food down at this age because they aren't made to have food this early. If it wasn't proven it helps my high risk bub I wouldn't be starting til 6 months (and probably 6. 5m really 🤣)

I thought my little boy was ready as he was staring at anyone that had food, slightly opening his mouth and licking lips, tried him with porridge twice and his tongue just pushes out too much so going to try again in a month x

I’m not starting until 6 months as she’s just not ready but I have given her a tiny taste of squashed banana (not even a mouth full for her). i think I’ll just give her tastes of things every so often when I have it, but not enough that’s worth putting on a spoon

@Holly could I just ask how do you know your baby is high risk for allergens? Is it because you have allergies?
