@Hannah we’ve been using boiling tap water from the kettle or flask for the hotshot but then pouring boiling tap water in the rapid cool and using the cooled water from that to top up the rest of the bottle :)
How much of a hot shot are you doing for the 120ml?
@Hannah only around 1 or 2oz just enough to cover the actual powder
Are you putting the formula in first? You should measure the water first to make sure the ratio is correct x
@Hannah that makes sense 🤦🏻♀️ our health visitor told us it was powder first but she also dismissed us when we first mentioned we said Alfie had clear CMPA symptoms in the first place. I’ll see if that makes a difference thank you! x
@Holly powder first if you’re using the prep machine that’s fine but if you’re measuring the water out from a kettle then you’ll end up with the wrong ratio doing powder first. I’ll link a TikTok that explains it better for the hot shot method x

Also it’s around 10ml of hotshot per scoop of formula so for you I’d do 40ml hotshot 80ml cool water x
Definitely water first if using a kettle
honestly it does just look quite off, anyway! and smells funny! but i reiterate the above x
The only way we found it actually looked like milk was to use the rapid cool and mix the formula with the water in the rapid cool instead of hot shot method. More cleaning but so much better! Baby took so much more with this method
It does look like this in general and it smells awful too x
The hotshot method always turns out like this for us with Althera. We have to make the whole bottle with boiling water then use the rapid cool. Come out almost looking like normal formula. I haven’t found anything else that works.
What are you using for the rest of the water for the hotshot? Are you using tap water?
