Smelly urine in the morning

Hey! My little boy has recently been waking up in the mornings and his nappies stink but then through out the day they don’t smell, even asked nursery to check and they said he was going perfectly fine and nappies were good. However for 2 nights now he has been constantly screaming in pain for something and once hes had calpol he settles, he has no fever and still happy and playing and eating well but he screams if I put water next to him if he doesn’t want it 🙃 I know the pain could be from anything as I think he’s teething and he’s had a cold for 3 weeks but I’m worried he has a urine infection but the smelly nappies is the only symptom of it

How long do you leave the nappies overnight before changing? Sometimes I find if my baby has been in his nappy a while because he’s slept a bit longer, then I find it can have a bit of a smell. Though this isn’t me saying that he doesn’t have a urine infection etc. - just sharing my experience, so best get it checked out if you’re worried!

no thank you! Since this post he has seemed to be ok actually maybe just the change in weather and it getting darker is confusing him hence the unsettledness? He doesn’t have a nappy change at night anymore unless he wakes up but they’re usually pretty full just this time was full and really strong so maybe just did a lot more weeing! If I wake him for a change he won’t go back to sleep without a fight 🥴
