I had to take time off work when my daughter had chicken pox and my work are saying I have to use my holidays and can’t have unpaid parental leave is this right?

How much time did you have off? You can't use parental leave for only days here and there, you have to use them as whole weeks.
You also have to be there for over a year?
I'm also pretty sure it doesn't include child sickness unless long term or if child is disabled....

I don't have answers for you, but I am literally having the same crisis in my family. My son has HFM and can't go back until it clears. I am a teacher hubby works full time too. We are trying to figure out how to split the week. I miss my family so much today as we are Canadian and have no family in the UK. This part of parenting sucks and is really hard!

I had 2 days off but only work 2 days a week so technically a week off and I’ve been here a few years I just thought maybe there would be something else other than having to take your holidays off you I have none left now and needed them to book off time when nursery is closed round Christmas, I asked what they’d do if I have no holidays left to take and my manager said don’t know

it’s awful isn’t it, I have no holidays left now and I’m sure there will be plenty more illnesses to come especially coming into these months🫣

Sounds really bad but couldn’t you call in sick for yourself?
