Anyone else struggling!

Just need a bit of positivity! My LO has just turned 16 weeks and I also have a just turned 2 year old, this shit is hard! I’m so sleep deprived as I have no gaps in the day to have a nap and catch up on sleep, someone please tell me it gets better🫠😫 My LO is on 4 feeds, every 5 hours and all 7oz bottles so she’s doing well but she’s also going through 4 month sleep regression I think.

You're doing great mama, having 2 under 2 IS hard and sleep deprivation is no joke. But it gets easier your 2 year old will be so much more understanding this next year, it weird how quickly they develop likewise our June babies will be 6 months in just over 2 months. You've got this. Have you considered putting your 2-year-old in private nursery to give yourself a break a day or 2 in the week?

So does she only have milk 5 hours apart? Do you wait for her to give you signs she’s wanting milk for that schedule? Could you try offering milk with shorter gaps if that’s the case? I have a baby girl around the same age, but she has milk every 2-3 hours and has 5 ounces, but this is only through the day typically 8am-8pm. So usually 5-6 bottles in a day which would be about the same amount of daily milk that you’re giving but in a shorter time frame so you could get a better sleep if it works. Could be worth a try x

5hrs seems a long time between feeds, plus 7floz seems alot for a 16 week old? My girl is just over 4 months and has 5floz bottles every 3hrs, except overnight when she goes longer. Although, she does have CMPA and reflux so can't have too big a bottle in one go as it makes her sickx

Yeah she has 5 hour gaps, I was doing 4 hours but she just didn’t seem to want a bottle so I waited and she seemed to want one after 4.5/5 hours, she was having 5oz every 4 hours and now has 7oz every 5 hours so it evens out, the big feed keeps her going I guess, tbh I’m looking forward to her reaching 6 months when I think they start to change and become happier!

@Charlotte yeah I used to give it every 4 hours but she didn’t really want it, so stretched it out, does your little one sleep 8am-8pm? So she has 25-30oz a day? Seems about right, maybe I’ll try shortening the feeds with less oz, as she sleeps about 9/9:30pm-6am but is waking up a lot in the night atm, I dunno if she’s in regression or hungry..

@Georgia Yeah most nights she goes to sleep around 8pm, whenever she’s ready well out her down. Then normally wake between 7:30-8am. In the early days I was letting her lead the feeds but she was going longer in the day than the night do just started waking her 2 hourly to offer milk and she’s gradually found her routine of sleeping through following that xx

@Georgia also with regression I’ve heard it’s best to keep to your usual routine as much as possible (if it’s a good one!) so if you don’t normally feed in the night then just soothe them back to sleep with a dummy or however you’d normally choose and that’s supposed to help the regression just be something you can ride out rather than creating new habits you’re stuck with kinda thing xx
