My husband and I are planning a big trip when our baby is about 9 months old. We originally considered Europe since that is a short(ish) flight from the east coast. However the idea of Japan/Philippines has emerged. Has anyone taken their baby on a 15+ hour direct flight? Any tips?

We did 11 hour flight and the best decision was to take baby to the swimming pool few hours before flight plus we choose overnight plane (almost time when he usually sleeps). He slept 9.5 hours out of 11 😊 as well don’t let baby sleep before boarding and board last

Overnight flight both ways works best - they sleep most of the time!
We did a 10 hour flight with our 10 month old and the later flights worked best for us.
We also let him watch dancing vegetables/Miss Rachel, spinners, lots of new toys and bring lots of snacks to distract him/her!

I agree that overnight is best. We took my Son to Zanzibar when he was 7 months old. It was a 39 hour flight. We we had long layovers. This allows for staying in a hotel or in the airport lounge. 15 hours can be done with the right prep/ packing lots of supplies, snacks etc.
