Tips for food supplements to improve milk supply

My baby is nearly 3 months and has been ebf, lately I feel my milk is running low as my LG is wanting to be fed every 1 to 2 hours in day, sometimes she just isn't being able to get any milk out due to my body not being able to produce it quick enough so therefore I've been topping up with formula. Any advice to improve the supply ?

If bub is having good output (5-6 heavy wet nappies a day) your supply is fine. The formula top up shouldn't be necessary and could in fact be detrimental to your supply. Around 3-4 months your supply changes from having something readily available to supplying when demanded. Babes can get frustrated at this because they have to work for the milk now. The composition of your milk also changes over time to provide more calories. Babe could just need more calories right now for growth spurts etc. Try not to stress mumma. Baby is doing what baby needs to do.

Thank you, it's just a bit frustrating when she cries for feed then only has less then five minutes on each, then still crying when she can't get any out, hate to see her like it so give her formula to make her settle. I'm still determined to go longer BF

What are thise acronyms

@Sarah she'll be upset and frustrated because she's so used to having her feed delivered to her without so much effort. She'll get used to having to work for it. It took a couple of days for my girl (17 weeks) to give in and work for her feeds. She would latch, figure out the boob isn't providing so readily, have a cry, then attach and work for it. I'll also note, my girls feeds have always been about 10 minutes, sometimes quicker as time has gone on. They can get more efficient at feeding from us too.

@Sarah using brewers yeast to make lactation cookies, having porridge for breakfast, flax seeds. Also make sure if you have dairy you're using full fat dairy products x

@Sarah Why full fat dairy products?

If you feel the need to supplement with formula (though your body will likely adjust to her needs), I suggest using a feeding tube or a feeding spoon, both available on Amazon. These options can help avoid nipple confusion, which can happen with bottle feeding and may make breastfeeding more difficult. It could be that she’s crying because she doesn’t want to work for the milk if she’s gotten used to a bottle. This way, you can supplement without disrupting her latch 🫶

Thank you everyone

@Keerthivasini two reasons, one is that full fat is best for baby when they start weaning so it means you're only buying one thing for both of you but the main thing is because of the fat and calories that you use while breastfeeding. Your body can only pull from your own stores for so long. To make good quality milk, it is best if you put healthy fats into your body :)
