If you’re treating baby I would Definitely treat yourself as well with one of the above or else you will keep passing it back and forth
You can’t take the oral tablets while breastfeeding I don’t think. I was prescribed daktarin but I had a reaction to that so was then prescribed canesten. You just need to make sure to be wiping it off before feeding baby
I had this with my first baby and it was tricky to get rid of, as its a moist warm environment so thrush thrives. Also, many GPs are not as knowledgeable as they should be about it & don't always give the best advice in my experience, so you may have to push to get what you need. You have to treat both yourself & baby or you will just continue to pass it back and forth. They should give you a cream for your nipples (daktarin I think its called) & oral gel for baby. Also, change breast pads regularly and wash any breastpads/muslin etc at 60 degree's. The La Leche website has some really useful information here: https://laleche.org.uk/thrush/ Good luck with it! Once I did all of the above we got rid of it quite quickly xx
Also, probiotics can be helpful to keep it at bay of you do find it keeps returning (if you or baby have had antibiotics it can make you more vulnerable to thrush & probiotics can help). Optibac do a very well researched one suitable from birth, and plenty of adult options too
Canesten is an anti fungal cream (clotrimazole) so should work fine - often GPs prescribe miconazole which is in same family of medication and it’s also available to buy over the counter as Daktarin if you would rather get that one 🙂
