advice and support needed

Hi everyone. I’m new here. I’m 40 and live in the uk. We have only been trying to fall pregnant for just over a month. Usually my periods are like clockwork and have been since I can remember. My sept period was 5 days late and my oct period is now 8 days late. I’ve tested and I’m not pregnant. I’m feeling hopeless because my period has gone awol and I’m wondering if we’ve missed the boat and I’ll no longer be able to fall pregnant. I know it’s a constant waiting game. I’d just really appreciate some guidance and I’d love to hear from anyone that has been through similar. X

I’m turning 40 this month and due my baby within a fortnight of my birthday! You’re definitely not out just because you’re 40. It could be that you’re just stressed and it’s affecting your cycle. Try to worry and just get busy around ovulation time. I’d recommend doing ovulation tests for accuracy

Id definitely get some ovulation strips (you can buy a bunch cheap on Amazon) x

Thank you ladies. Just really feeling it today. If my periods weren’t usually so regular I wouldn’t feel as low. I’m just scared that I may be in peri menopause and might no longer be able to conceive. I know im probably jumping the gun. I’m just having a freak out.

awww I’m so sorry - it could also be the stress (even if subconscious) that you are feeling, stress can play havoc with periods! X

Try macca root capsules! Those helped me fall pregnant. I used 5500mg capsules for only a few days and i fell pregnant that month after trying for 15 months! Do not worry about your age! I had a miscarriage and 15 months of trying after to get my now 8 month old and I was trying from age 20/21, I had him at 23. Age doesn’t always mean easy! Maybe try take the stress away too. Don’t track anything or feel pressure to have sex. Stay busy in your life and forget and it will happen! We focused for ages and nothing worked. I took macca root, moved house and moved jobs all within 10 days and turns out I fell pregnant within those! I don’t even remember having the time but just shows not putting pressure on can work!

thank you Elle. And huge congrats to you 💙 I’m sorry that you had troubles along the way.
I’ll definitely get some maca root. I’ve just been reading up as I’ve never heard of it before.
I wouldn’t normally feel the way I do, it’s only because my periods have always been so regular and in sept I was 5 days late and this month so far I’m 8 days late. I’m scared that I’m in perimenopause and won’t be able to conceive.

if you’re worried maybe go to the doctors and get them to see if they can help with knowing if you are? It could be that you’re stressed about being premenopausal and that’s what making your periods late. I’ve never had a regular cycle so I don’t have any tips on how I would help my own unfortunately. But I would 100% try macca root. It’s just a vegetable I’m pretty sure! I got it from Amazon for about £10! I hope my story has helped though! Knowing everyone struggles even though age should be on my side being in my early 20’s! I honestly think age is such a small factor in fertility! Anything can happen at any point. Don’t ever think you’re alone because you’d be surprised how many more people also feel the same 💙 I thought it would never happen for me it felt endless and it finally did! Your time will come 100% 💘

really appreciate your messages 💗 I think I’m going to see why happens in the next few weeks. If I’m still testing negative and still no signs of my period, I’ll book an appointment.
I’ll order the maca.
I know everyone has their struggles. I just felt at such a loss today. You’ve given me a little hope so thank you x

Further to what Pauline said, if you end up going down the testing route, I would fib and say you’ve been trying over a year, or they generally won’t do anything (unless you’re paying) and although you’re still definitely not out of time at 40,I would also say you don’t want to waste time waiting around either. Stress can definitely play a big part in messing up your cycles. But you need to know when you’re ovulating to give yourself the best chance

I know this is an old post but just wanted to encourage you in case you’re still on Peanut and trying to conceive. My cycles were getting lighter and shorter (phase and length). However, I conceived naturally at 41 and gave birth at 42 after 14 years of “unexplained infertility”. I had an uncomplicated pregnancy (never even nauseous), healthy pregnancy, overall smooth postpartum. I used no supplements or dieting. Just 100% faith and learned how to change my thinking and speech to work with my prayers and not against it. It can happen for you after 40! My friend gave birth 7 months before me at 43! Don’t lose hope 💜
