Do you buy your children's clothes a size bigger or do you buy their regular size

My BD doesn't understand why I buy my daughter's clothes & shoes a size bigger. He calls me weird & I just want to know if anyone else does that as well or if I should buy her size instead of buying it a lil bigger

I buy clothes occasionally in her size if she just barely grew into and needs it for the season otherwise I buy bigger

I buy the next size up so we have them in the closet when we need them. We don’t typically wear them big.

Definitely bigger because midway through the season they’re gonna fit perfectly. If I bought his current size I’d be buying Two wardrobes for a season. That’s silly haha

My son was born in 0-3. Was in 3-6 within 3 weeks, and 6-9 a month after that. I have learned to buy clothes a little big. He currently fits 18m in shirts, but 2t in pants cuz he got a big butt. So I usually just 2T everything. They’re a little long and he’s walking so I’m hoping he slims down (baby weight to more muscle) so I can recycle through sizes. But for now we’re in 2T for day, 4t at night. They’re long but superrr tight on him…. 🫢

Clothes I buy one size bigger but shoes I buy his size. Unless he’s in the next size. You get more wear out of them that way. So long as it’s not super baggy I don’t see a problem with it.

I will buy clothes a little bigger as long as it’s not super big and looks terrible. My toddler is in 2t and she has some 2t stuff but I’ve been buying her 3t now and it’s been okay. Shoes I won’t but bigger I will buy the right size,I feel like bigger shoes aren’t comfortable and will make her walk wierd. But that’s just me

I always buy bigger, so does everyone I know.

I always buy his size as he grows incredibly slowly haha. He was in 12-18 month clothes last winter and is still in them now (he’s 2 and a half) 😂

I buy his current size. Otherwise by the time it fits him properly it’ll probably be the wrong season. Like if I bought him a new coat now in a size up, it’d be summer by the time it fits him and he won’t use it.

If there’s a sale I’ll buy some bits for the size up ready for when he needs them but not for him to wear straight away

That's exactly how I feel. & After you wash them a few times, they start to shrink

Avatar

You made a good point here. It's mainly the clothes that I like to buy bigger but that's so true about the shoes..

Avatar

I usually buy her shoes the right size because otherwise she would trip over stuff all the time. I always buy at least one size up in clothes tho because she is 3 and grows super fast

When I was little my mom would buy me large shirts even tho I was a size small so 🤷‍♀️

My son just started to fit his 12 month clothes. He was stuck at 12 month pants and 6-9 shirts because hes built like me. Long legs short torso but hes tall like his dad. Out of nowhere he hit a growth spurt and grew out of the brand new shoes we got him and his shirts finally fit. I have a petite baby and he hardly is touching 20% on his growth chart so ive still been using the same clothes until just now🥲 its like he turned 1 and out of nowhere he fits everything when he was just drowning in his shirts. I probably wont buy bigger unless he keeps having growth spurts without me realizing because im usually so on top of it😭

Avatar

Yes because they only fit for like a week. They’re better larger and more comfortable that way. When they’re too small they can’t wear them.

Avatar

Shoes will hurt their feet if it's bigger. You must buy their exact size. But clothes, 1 size up is good.

Avatar

Normal size unless it’s something that’s not too big but could be worn next year too like a jacket. That’s good for this winter and next but it’s not too crazy big now
