My son will start school next year, trying to prepare and budget for uniforms etc. I just wondered how many sets to buy to begin with ? I understand some days they will be so grubby especially starting infants. Would you buy all the items, or more shirts / trousers, less jumpers etc. they obviously are continuously growing too.

My child isn’t at school yet but I would buy shirt and trousers one for each day (reduce stress if washing)!-!: probably 3 jumpers x

I buy 5 and only put 3 in circulation as they are bound to destroy them, also they have pe days where they come to school in their p.e kits, which since COVID is now common practice. So confirm this maybe

I bought two 🤣
I asked the teachers at orientation. They said they don't expect the uniforms to be perfectly clean, they know the kids are 5. We've nearly finished the first year and so far so good. Actually for the first time this week I handwashed both shirts on Wednesday because they weren't just a bit grubby, they were filthy.
Most of the year Ive done one mid week wash and the rest is done on weekends. So usually he wears each shirt for 2 days.

He's moving schools next year and to buy 2 shirts, 1 jumper and 1 hat is about $90. Thank god it's just black shorts and pants and I can get them anywhere.

how much does it cost you to buy 5 full sets?

3 is ideal one in the wash one in the draw and one being worn and keep going lol

One for each day of the week and maybe a spare in case something gets stained or ripped.

Uniforms are expensive here esp private schools. He’s starting prep next year and I’ve bought him 2 sets of everything except for his blazer which only needs 1.

£50-£60 if it's a non branded school jumper for uniforms (from Asda) or with branded jumpers I only purchase 3 as they are £15 each so it then comes to £85-£95 then an additional £15 for 2 pe kits.
Things like coats, wellies, book bags, backpacks, lunchboxes, underwear also have to be considered.
Every September I spend nearly £400 for two children and I dread the cost when my third reaches that age.

There many places you could buy from at lower cost. Id say 3 each as the get it dirty easily

I think you'll need at least 3 bottoms and 5 tops. Personally I think tops should be changed daily and they are cheap when bought from supermarkets (if your school allows it). 3 jumpers or 2 jumpers one cardigan, something like that.
It's a cost in September but then you don't need as many personal clothes during the year as you only use them week ends and holidays.

Polos and trousers for each day. 3 jumpers.
My son goes wearing PE kit 2 days a week

3. Wearing one, one in the wash and one on the line
