Hi All, I’m currently just over 28 weeks and it’s hit me that eventually I’ll be giving birth. I’m so squeamish and such a fainter- fainted during my whooping cough vaccine and nearly fainted today having my blood taken. I’m so terrified about giving birth and scared to faint during it. I’m not great with pain and such an overthinker! Has anyone got any advice/similar experience?

Get the epidural , u won’t feel a thing 😭 I was scared too and my contractions were unbearable

I was absolutely petrified too, I even contemplated a c section because of it. But honestly, you've got this. I had a natural water birth, no epidural and only gas & air. Remember the hospital is equipped for everything so if you do faint during birth etc etc, you are at the right place. And it's honestly true what they say, you'll forget all of it the second bubba is in your arms! You've got this!

@Jody, I agree. I wish I had gotten the epidural sooner than I did. With me, though, I was induced, and even with the epidural, I felt a lot of pressure on my back. Turns out that she was sunny side up (face up), so I ended up having a C section because she was sunny side up and in fetal distress. I was almost there, though. I was 7 cm dilated with 90% effacement when we had to decide to get a C section.
Aww thank you all, really appreciate your replies! Yes I’ve been contemplating about the epidural! It definitely seems like the best option atm and hopefully help me remain a lot calmer💓💓

I was so against an epidural but they had us walk around the hospital to get me more dilated and at 5cm I was crying holding onto my fiance. Once I got the epidural it was sooooo much better. When the contractions started it felt like a lot of pressure and when it came time to push it was so hard and I got to the point where I said I couldn't do it 🙄😂 and of course once you get to that point, baby is here! I had an assisted delivery and has a second degree tear and the birth wasn't that bad, I would do it again! The healing sucked a bit though, every cough and sneeze hurt. Every time I stood up or sat down it hurt. Not unbearable but in my opinion worse than birth because it lasts longer and you can expect the pain when you feel a sneeze coming on. (Not worse than birth pain wise just kind of overall)

It can be scary, but I believe you'll do fine. I'm an L&D nurse, so if you ever want to talk through your fears, DM me. I can answer your questions to the best of my ability.
