The Selection Series

I absolutely love this series, I read it almost 10 years ago. I’m kind of craving a similar read, but less YA and more adult.

If you know of a book that has The Selection vibe PLEASE reacommend, I would love to read and talk allll about it!

Oooh I loved the selection series! I found divergent similarly fulfilling but a bit more mature. Or even Eragon. Still all ya I think but great books

i read divergent! To me it was more like Hunger Games than The Selection, but still great book! I guess I want a little more cheesy and romantic but still with some good plot and a little bit not overpowering spice 😢

Omg I would love something like this!!!!!

I haven't read The Selection, but have you read Fourth Wing? I was obsessed with Hunger Games (still my favorite book) and Fourth Wing made me feel the way I did reading Hunger Games for the first time!

hunger games is also one of my favorite books of all time!! Haven’t read fourth wing but my best friend swears by it and I might give it a try. It’s just reaaally long and I don’t have the time to commit like that to a book with a newborn. That’s why I’m looking for lighter, shorter, and not so heavy reads! 🫣

I love the selection series!! I wish I had found another book series that’s similar, but it seems to be unique. I read a lot of YA so struggling on the adult aspect, but had a couple of thoughts:

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen - probably the closest I can think of, has royals and rebels and a hint of spice (though I can’t remember if it’s in the first book or not)

Midnight Strikes by Zeba Shahnaz- has the same royalty/rebels vibes and slow growing romance.

A dated series, but Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Very much an older style YA, so very short, but they’d be easy reads with a newborn. Has a very similar style romance and is one of my all time favs.

Shades of Milk and Honey by Marie Robinette Kowal - sweet romance with light fantasy, more along the veins of Jane Austin vibes but a fairly light read

do you do audiobooks? That’s how I kept up with my reading with a new born.
