People who work part time what do you find better?

I currently work 2 days a week but think that 3 would be the best in terms of income vs. time with my son. The more days you do the more money you will take home even with higher nursery fees, but for me I don't feel like the planning and marking required for four days would be possible if I want any kind of work life balance :)

It will depend on what the childcare costs are in your area and where you are on the pay scale. Also on your particular role. I couldn’t feasibly be Head of Department on fewer than four days, for example.

My nursery is actually more expensive doing 4 days than 3 days because it’s so difficult for them to find someone who just wants 1 day.

I currently work 4 days, I would love to drop to 3 as then I would have shared class responsibilities whereas atm it’s all me. However financially it’s not possible but we are fortunate to have family help. Otherwise childcare cost out weighs what I would lose (I’m due with my second).
