So long story short I've been called by my partner to tell me my boy has 40°C temperature. I came home straight away, managed to give him nurofen, it was his bed time (I work nights) so that's 9pm, he didn't want no water just 2oz of milk and went to sleep. His right cheek was very red and hot, the other one was normal. Now I know this happened when he was teething but he already has all his teeth, the only ones left are the second molars which I've looked shouldn't come out until 25 to 33 months old?! And he's just 18mo. Could it be the molars? Isn't it too early for them? And he never had soooooo high temperature before even with the teething. He was absolutely fine all day, no other symptoms, no cough.

The only time my son had a temp of 40 it was covid, he had no symptoms at all until the night time when his fever came and he was getting the fever shakes. How’s little one doing now? Xx

Could be the start of slapped cheek so keep an eye on it. Be cautious and wash your hands thoroughly after touching little one as slapped cheek is highly contagious etc

Ours started cutting last 2 molars at 17m.... Slow process, I still don't think they've cut, but I just about can see them. It's like 2 nights of teething, a week off. But for her if I give her ibuprofen, temp goes down and doesn't come back, I know it's teeth

My little girl is 19 months but she had all of her teeth by 14 months and I’ve wondered the same if it’s her back molars, she spent a good 2-3 weeks being really upset with herself for no obvious reason but I can’t feel anything. Luckily she’s back to her normal self now. I just assumed because she was early having all her teeth maybe she’d be early with her second molars!

Thank you everyone, it turned out to be hand foot and mouth. Today he had rash on his feet, little around his mouth and hands, we went to doctor who confirmed it. He had temperature all day and refused to eat, just some spoons of fruity puree. In the evening he seemed a bit better, but it's still a battle to make him eat or drink anything. Hopefully will be himself again soon.

We thought this with our LO then he proceeded to refuse to eat, be very emotional and not coping with even playing turns out he had tonsillitis.
It really could be anything until there more symptoms which there might be some morning it’s hard to say.
