Shortness of breath

I am 27 weeks pregnant and this past week I feel short of breath a lot of the time mainly when I am sat down or lying down.
I am just wondering if I should be concerned or if this is a common pregnancy symptom at this stage. Anyone else the same

I’m 27 weeks too and the exact same! it’s like I can’t take a deep enough breath sometimes, assumed it must be because baby is squashing my lungs or something but I’m not entirely sure if it’s normal or not🫣

Hi Lisa! I'm sitting at my midwife appointment right now, just finished the glucose stuff and waiting for round two. I brought up my breathing issues since it’s been a struggle lately (I’m 29 weeks pregnant). She said it could be from the baby's position and all the extra weight from my belly and breasts pushing down on my lungs. She reassured me it’s pretty common.

If you're feeling really hurt when you breathe, like if your chest is painful, just give them a call. It could be something serious, like a blood clot or something like that.

I have this all the time. I've got an inhaler because of it, i find I breath better when I lay on my right side with my knee bent or if I do child's pose x

Ahh thanks ladies it has put my mind at rest a little.
I didn’t want to unnecessarily clog up a&e as I know it can be a pregnancy symptom it’s just made me panic as never struggled with breathing for anything before and literally feels like I’m gasping sometimes to breathe however no pain in chest and when the little miss 👶🏼 moves sometimes I feel like a weight has been lifted x

Can also be of your haemoglobin has dropped which is normal as pregnancy goes on but can make breathlessness worse- if you haven’t had a recent blood test just ask them to repeat x
