Knowing what to buy..

First time mum, 21 weeks pregnant. We have out travel system, next to the bed crib, crib for downstairs, baby monitor and a nappy bin ( will likely get another one ) we have a bunch of clothes ( mainly new born- 3 months )

Just wanting advice on how much of everything you need and the most important things that we need to buy ( apart from nursery furniture ) I have a list of what we need but it's not helping me, like when it comes to swaddles what tog do you need for a baby born in early March ( EDD 10th ) any advise and information is welcome, I'm wanting to get a better understanding of everything

Some other things we bought and loved were:

- Carrier (we got the ergobaby omni 360 but also were gifted the Artipoppe which is incredible but definitely a luxury).
- Anti roll changing mat (Mama Shack do cute ones), also a cheapy one so you’re not taking it up and downstairs every day (ie. one upstairs for night changes and one downstairs for day changes).
- Large muslin for over changing mat, keeps accidents from spilling and also keeps baby warm.
- You might not need sleep sacks until they’re big enough but we liked the tommee tippee ones. Get a room thermometer and follow the chart about what tog plus clothes to dress in but also trust your instincts.
- Stock up wet wipes and cotton wool for the early days.
- NoseFrida, saline most drops for inevitable snuffles.
- A good thermometer, the braun in ear one has always done us well. We only had a stick in the early days which was stressful I’d just invest.
- Bepanthan barrier cream and to use lightly for nappy rash Metanium.

I found this guide helpful for what clothes to dress your baby depending on the month of the year you are in. I believe you need to keep your house temperature at 16 - 20 degrees for a newborn so you would be looking at a 2.5 tog sleeping bag.

I could go on forever please stop me!

- Bath thermometer.
- We got a second hand (free) baby bath this time to save water.
- Large muslin to wrap baby in in the bath and a bath pail.
- Soft bath towel.
- Changing bag (Gigil or Tiba & Marl nice).
- Baby sensory muslins (Etta Loves), great for draping over bassinets and buggies!
- Nail scissors, dribble bibs and dummies.
- Cellular blanket.

Anything else would be feeding dependant I’d say, we combi fed so had bits for both but until you know it’s a lot of going with the flow I think (and midnight Amazon orders 😅).

- A gro egg is a good buy as the light indicates the temperature of the room & it says the temp on it too.
- Muslin cloths are good as they always come in handy.
- Hooded bath towels.
- bath thermometer
- Cellular blankets are good
I wouldn’t go crazy buying blankets as we ended up with quite a lot & only used a few 😂 I also bought these sensory card which were black & white which are supposed to be really good in helping strengthen their eyes etc. I’m reallly trying to rack my brain 😅
