Ovulation & pregnancy tests post MMC

Don't I need to have my hcg down to be able to ovulate?
Here's a timeline of what happened if anyone wants to shed some light on what's happening with my hormones.
- September - found out about MMC and decided for no medical intervention
- 2 weeks later, there was no progress so I took the abortion pills
- Started bleeding on Oct 15 and I believe I passed most of the pregnancy then
- Stopped bleeding exactly 2 weeks later (oct 29)
- took a regular pregnancy test, still showing a very very faint line (still due to take a pregnancy termination test tomorrow)
- took an ovulation test out of curiosity and it came positive (but not peak)

How can i be ovulating if i still have hcg in my system?
How does a MC impact ovulation tests? Anyone know?

Hi first of all I am so sorry for your loss. Ovulation test can pick up HCG and it can take a while for your HCG levels to drop to normal levels, It took mine exactly 5 weeks after surgery miscarriage to test negitive xx

Yes, you're not ovulating yet if the line is faint and consistent across days. It's likely HCG. Your first target should be to get a negative HCG test, as positive would mean you still have hcg >25. Once HCG starts testing negative it means it's dropped below 25, not necessarily 0. So you might still test positive on OPKs similar to today. But I don't think it needs to be 0 for you to ovulate, you could ovulate with low levels of HCG. At the time you should see a progressive dark line that dips back to faint one on OPKs.
Hope this helps.

Thanks i had no idea lh and hcg overlapped in tests

thanks. That's exactly the type of info i searched all over google but couldn't find. I testEd negative for the termination test today (the one that measures hcg above 2000, but the regular one is still faintly positive. Thinking of s case, i dont have any regular sign of ovulation like her so mine is probably just hcg.

Amy, the test you took was a regular one?
