Ahh! So this went on for nearing an hour, sheās never done it before either! It stopped when I picked her up and put on me where she slept for 10mins or so. I put her back down and she didnāt do it again?! Werid! Aww bless you hun, sending lots of love! Theyāre right little beans arenāt they! X
Our boy does this. Heās 9 weeks old and has done it practically since birth and after his second feed which heās having now heāll go back down for about half an hour to an hour then heāll start wriggling and grunting, the only way he stops is if we lay him on us. We havenāt found a better alternative yet for it.
Yes every night from like 4-7 and itās so tiringš she wakes herself up from doing that eventually and lately sheās not been going back down after 5am, no matter what I do. Looked into motor restlessness, weāre going to try some more exercises during wake windows š¤
yes i recently did a post about this - my little girl is 12 weeks old and has always done this, especially in the early hours like after 4am - i think she's just in very light active sleep (grunting, groaning, squirming, sometimes crying out, but has her eyes closed the whole time) - but also their digestive systems are sort of waking up and it could also be trapped wind and them becoming more aware of digestive sensations. but yeah its impossible to sleep as i constantly think she's waking up š¬š¬x
The only thing we noticed helped ours from wriggling around in her sleep, was swaddling. She slept completely silently after we started doing that.
This sounds more like active sleep where they are asleep but move and thrash a lot. If you reset their dummy or put a hand on the chest it will calm them
@Samantha yes we were swaddling up until last week! as she's getting bigger and stronger though she's learning to grab the muslin and fight her way out so we had to stop š¬
@Molly this literally sounds the exact same as our 9 week old. I give up by about 5am come downstairs and let him sleep on me. š¤ they will grow out of it soon
My 10/11 week old does this - I think itās called active sleep and is perfectly normal - but weāre the same - on the one hand itās great she doesnāt wake but on the other hand it definitely wakes me up and I canāt go back to sleep until itās over.
My little one does the same he is 11 weeks been doing for a couple of weeks. He thrashes so much! It seems more then active sleep. When I looked into it, apparently it is them teaching themselves to self soothe. But they arenāt quite sure what to do with their arms and legs yet. But it is development on the self soothe aspect x
Yep my boy is the same heās 12 weeks and itās been a thing for a good few weeks and not that I co-sleep but he comes in with me (on my chest) and stops! Otherwise he was doing this for hours and I was not sleeping so unfortunately at the moment all I do to settle him is keep him with me usually after 4:30/5 Iām like āok big bed it isā šš
I was doing the same every day from the same time he would sleep on my chest for rest of morning but now I notice if I just hold his hand or rest my hand on his tummy etc and reassure him he is taking himself back off to sleep xx
@Nicola gonna have to try this!

My boy is 9 weeks too and doing the same sometimes. I just wait for it to pass as it looks like he's still sleeping and don't want to completely wake him. It never lasts more than a few mins, maybe 10mins tops. So while it keeps me awake, it's not for too long. Tonight we have trapped wind snd spitting up milk that's keeping me awake, which hasn't happened in the middle of the night for a long while ...
