TV?

Okay my baby is 11 weeks and I always catch her watching TV lol. If it’s on in the background and she’s in her swing she’s watching tv, if she’s doing tummy she will watch tv. Does anybody else’s baby do this? I obviously limit the amount she is exposed to and I always read to her and interact with her. I just didn’t think she would be interested in the tv yet.

Lol my baby does the same and she’s 11 weeks tomorrow and I limit her time too and I read to her as well. I know they say not to but I just feel like it’s no biggie especially when the child is still being interacted with and it’s not used as a distraction so the parent doesn’t have to entertain the baby.

I let my baby watch Hey Bear Sensory when I absolutely have to take a shower but can’t get him down. Any other time he usually does the same also lol looking while I’m watching or walk past the living room.

@ingognito and @Sandra It makes sense! Colors and shapes moving around… I totally get why that would be fascinating 😆 No judgement here! But another reason they suggest not to do it, in addition to the overstimulation, is the blue light effect on brain cells. It’s damaging to brains that are fully developed, let alone developing ones. Again no judgment and I agree that sometimes you gotta use it as a tool if you need to shower etc. Just sharing that it’s not just about the lack of socialization or healthy play 😊 The blue light is worth weighing in also!

@Rosalie I completely understand that but aren’t they still developing as toddlers? But we can introduce it to them in intervals no more than 30 minutes a day as a toddler which is weird. As a early childhood education teacher I just find it strange, I make sure to limit her to only 15 minutes which is enough time to shower because most of the time I’m alone with her and laying her down now is hard. If I’m not lying with her she’s up and crying, which I can’t and won’t let her do for 15 minutes while I shower. I know someone will say wait but showering is for my sanity, it helps with my PPD to feel refreshed and her dad works out of town. Thank you for not being judgmental and the input 🤍

I’m all about the balance. There’s a difference between leaving your baby in front of a tv all day and being rigid with zero TV. That’s not realistic in my household. I like to have the morning news on when I make my coffee and if she turns her head to watch the today show for those 10 minutes so be it lol. It’s not cocomelon. @RosalieInteresting about the blue light tho! What distance are we taking about? I imagine it’s different than a phone or iPad that’s a few inches away from eyes vs a TV that’s several feet away..
