Newborn muscle twitches when sleeping
Has anyone had this with their newborn? I expect the odd twitch but it happens in periods. Arms and legs twitching. Pediatrician checked her over and said to keep an eye if she does it when awake but have only noticed it when she’s sleeping. Please let me know your opinions.

Our 6 day old does this in her sleep all the time, paediatrician said the same thing to us, totally normal when asleep, keep an eye out if it’s happening when awake.
oh that’s good to know you’ve heard the same thing! It’s so hard not to worry isn’t it!
My pediatrician told me to hold their arm and if they stop shaking that’s normal. If they don’t, contact it’s not.. their nervous system is developing.
yes my midwife also said it’s their nervous system developing!
My baby is just over a week old and does like a shivery movement. Spoke to the HV and she explained that at this age they still don't quite have full control over muscles and nervous system so its normal
Hey this looks exactly like what my baby does. We took her back in to hospital to get her checked out twice as the movements were worrying to me. Two docs said it looks like “benign sleep myoclonus” which I had never heard of, if you give it a google it will tell you more but nothing to worry about and reassuring to know it is a “thing” that some babies do and grow out of xx
