Hey! I’m 23 weeks pregnant today and due on the 1st March!
I was just wondering when I should start my maternity leave as I work in retail in a local store so I’m always on my feet and it’s already getting difficult, is 36 weeks too early or is it too late?

I don’t think there’s a too early or too late to start your maternity leave, just whenever feels best for you! I’m going my maternity leave from 32 weeks to have time to myself 🤣xx

Depending on your state, I think California maternity leave starts at 36 weeks. I found that to be plenty of time for me. I was induced at 39 weeks 4 days.

I’m a teacher so also I’m my feet a lot, I stopped work at 36.5 weeks and I wouldn’t have wanted to go any longer, I was sooo tired!

I don’t have an answer to your question but we have the same due date ! Congrats

It's honestly whenever you want to take it there is no right or wrong time as you can take it 11 weeks before baby is due. I'm using my holidays at 34 weeks and I'm going on maternity leave at 35 weeks, I'm due March 10th x

I’m planning to work until 38+4, I want as long as possible off after and there’s only so much you can do before, I do have a desk job though and can work at home so that helps. But my first was 15 days early so may have to change plans last minute

I’m also due 1st March and work in retail… I’m getting induced at 37/38 weeks so going to take maternity leave at 35.. well going to try! It’s so hard being on your feet all day so I’m just going to go with what my body says x

I plan on leave at the start of feb so will be around 35weeks to give me some time. I’m on my feet all day as well working in hospitality. Due 7th March🩷

My due date was the end of March but as I want a c section and having twins I was told I'd have them around 37 weeks which works out to be 4th March and I'm going to try and stay at work till end of January so il be about 32 weeks then it gives me time to get the last little bits finished and sorted 😊 xx

I’m due March 1st also and will be induced in February due to high risk pregnancy. On my first baby I worked until 38+4 and gave birth the same day - I will definitely not be going that this time! I’m going to take annual leave to cover the whole of January and start my leave at 35+6. I’ll have about a week then on mat leave before baby has her eviction xx

I’m due 17th March and I’m going off at 17th February

Vet nurse and *planning* on working up until a week before due date. Not sure how much use I’ll be at wrestling dogs or angry cats at that point but here we are🤣

I'm planning to work until 38 weeks like I did with our first but my job means I can sit down as much as I need to so it is easier when you're not on your feet the majority of the day x

I'm due same date as you and my last day is Feb 6th. I'm a Nanny and the family is going away the following week for half term so I'm able to use my 2 weeks holiday carried over from this year before my maternity allowance kicks in. I wil be almost 37 weeks when I finish so hoping she doesn't come early! X

With my first I left at 32 weeks and honestly it’s was the worst decision as I was bored, I could’ve carried on working so I’m thinking of 36 weeks this time round. Depending on what week they decide my elective will be as I want a little bit of time to get the last bits sorted at least x

I think only you can say when you’re ready to go on maternity especially because you’re on your feet all day. Is your work able to make accommodations for you like a stool at the checkout or something?
My first was 9 weeks early so I never made it to my official mat leave date but with this one I’m aiming for 34 weeks just to make last preparations for the baby and spend some quality time with my toddler.

unfortunately not, I had already used my annual leave before I found out I was pregnant and it doesn’t renew until my due date x
