I've tried googling it, but can't find anything. All I get is "yes, spicy foods are safe during pregnancy "

As a Korean mum, it's just like any spicy food! I don't see why not if you've been eating other spicy foods 😉

I love tteokbokki, but I wasn't sure because of the fish cakes. I really wanted some when I was buying japchae earlier, but didn't get it because I wasn't sure.

Its made of rice and rice is okay to eat, just make sure anything that gets added as a sauce doesnt have “raw” items and you should be okay :)

Unless you have diabetes it’s fine once in a while. The only thing I can think of as a risk is that (depending on the source), rice can be high in arsenic. Getting organic rice products can help lessen arsenic.

the place I get it from has fish cakes in it so I wasn't sure. I keep thinking about it and my mouth keeps watering. I think I'll get some tomorrow

quick question. Is there a word in Korean that is "homade". The Korean place I go to has it on their sign. I wasn't sure if they meant homemade or if it was an actual word anglicised. They're so nice, I didn't want to mention it before confirming with someone

ah got it. I’ve never had it with fish cakes in it before, but fish cakes are usually just a white fish (like pollack) mixed with some kind of binder like flour and then some seasoning. You can eat most fish while pregnant, just not the high mercury ones. It’s recommended to eat fish 3 times a week while pregnant, especially fatty fish like salmon.

good to know.
I've also cut my rice intake down from 3/4 times daily to maybe once a day depending on what I'm eating for dinner, so I'm not too worried about the arsenic exposure. I was compensating that I can't eat wheat with rice, lol it was way too much.

there's no such word in Korean! I'd think they meant homemade too

I'll mention it next time I see them. I've been going there for 2 years and just noticed it, hopefully everyone else has been just as oblivious
