Define liberal
Accepting of diverse families, not overly religious, typically leans blue. Those kinds of things.

I hear the non nova parts of Virginia are quite affordable & accepting areas

Minnesota

I've heard good things about Massachusetts

Minnesota

California 😇

Wait you said affordable, my bad

Minnesota would be my recommendation. Last time I was checking the housing out there it seemed fairly affordable, and Minnesota is pretty progressive with their laws and such.

Maryland 🦀 some parts are affordable.

Midwest is cheaper in general, but you’re gonna wanna go for their bigger cities not the smaller towns.
The small towns are more conservative and the bigger cities are more liberal.
The south is cheaper but I wouldn’t call it liberal. It’s called the Bible Belt for a reason.

Not here in WA 😂

There are some cheaper cities which tend to be more liberal, can’t speak for the rest of the state though. I’m thinking Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Pittsburgh, Asheville. Some of the Chicago suburbs aren’t terrible either. It depends what you’re used to paying.
I’ve never been! Any recommendations on which areas??
Thank you!! I’m from FL so the north seems so expensive lol. But I might just have to figure it out 🫠
Currently in the Bible Belt & not loving ittttt
I’ve never considered MN! I’ll take a look! Thanks 😊
I think VA might be too south.. But I’ve hear soon good things too !

Frederick is one of my favorite places, and is cheaper than the DC adjacent areas. I lived in Silver Spring and Takoma Park forever, but they're too expensive 😭

Overall, I think it's better to live in a slightly more expensive (but cheaper) area in a blue state than a much cheaper "blue oasis" in a red state. Areas like Cleveland and Akron might be more progressive, but that doesn't help much when the rest of Ohio is a dumpster fire and gerrymandered to hell
Thanks so much for your input 💗 I’m starting to feel the same way. I was outside of ATL for a while & it was great. But GA is so hit or miss. And if you travel an hour in any direction it’s… questionable lol. So I’m thinking we might just need to give up on the south & try something new!
