Baby #2 arriving in Jan and found mould on car seat

Hi, just after some advice. I’ve taken my infant car seat out storage and the one strap had a little bit of mould on. It easily wiped off with an antibacterial wipe (literally one quick wipe).

Can I keep it or do I have to get a new one? 😩

I’d personally buy a new one xx

Can you take all the covers off and wash them? Use antibacterial washing detergent? Most car seats you can. And then maybe steam the straps?

You need to get a new one unfortunately. Even if you clean the mould the fact it's been there can destroy the integrity of the seat and it won't be as safe anymore.

If you have a look on Car Seat Safety UK FB page or check on retailers like Simply Safe they all have black Friday sales on ATM on great seats!

Personally I'd buy a new one, from what ive read you can try your hardest but the mould spores will never fully be gone x

Thanks everyone. I thought this was the right answer but just wanted second opinions as it is so mild. I emailed the car seat manufacturer and they also said it’s best to get a new one, as there may be mould in the seat that we cannot see.

Just a bit disheartening but obviously more important to keep baby safe. ❤️
