8 years from age 12-21

6-9 months was always my natural time limit with men after I was 19, so when serious relationships started, until I got married. But I usually left within 2 months after knowing it wasn’t right. I usually left.

I was raised religious so out of the two “serious” (one was underage but I was engaged hence the quotations) I stayed in the first one for 7 years until I came of age, got control of my finances, and could leave. Second one I stayed bc I first blamed it on mental illness, still some religious beliefs, and then I was stuck for over 10 years.

After I was certain my ex wasn’t right for me, I held on for 4 months and I thought that was a long time! Girls if you KNOW it’s not right for you, just bite the bullet and leave. It’s so sad to see that people stayed for years in an unhappy relationship. If I had done that I wouldn’t have met my husband and built my dream relationship with him. You all deserve happiness

I was with someone for 6 yrs that was much older than me and when I got into it I didn’t really know better. I didn’t think it was that serious but he did. After a couple yrs I knew I should leave but I was a bit afraid (rightfully so…). He was insanely controlling and I didn’t realize how meek it made me. At yr 6 we lived together and I always thought I just wasn’t meant to be happy but I got the guts and finally left. It was hard for a while because he stalked me a bit and threatened me but it was the hugest weight off my shoulders. Now I have the best man in the world.
